A few years ago, a merry band of Star Wars fanatics and I put together Top 10 Lists of our favorite Star Wars characters, ships, aliens, and so much more!

We’ve resurrected this here on MindofModernMan for Star Wars Saturdays!

Recently SC38Reimagined gave us a new imagining of the battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi from A New Hope. And everyone got giddy about it!

So… in salute to the genius behind that video, the Modern Man Star Wars Mega Fans and I put our heads together for our Top 10 Favorite Star Wars Lightsaber Battles.

Remember, we vote with our hearts – these are our lists of FAVORITES, not necessarily the “BEST”. After the list, keep reading for some of my thoughts on what the voting showed.

Some other highlights earning votes, but missing the top 10 include: The Battle on Geonosis, Luke vs Kylo Ren and Mace Windu wielding his purple lightsaber a few times.

Keith’s Thoughts

Here is what I get from looking at the voting….

The love is very evenly spread here. In the 10 top votes, there is at least one battle from every major film release (other than Solo which had no lightsabers). 4 from the prequels, 3 from the original trilogy and 3 from the Disney era.

A little from everything.

Who wields a mighty saber? Let’s take a look at character breakdowns…

Darth Vader/Anakin is in 5 of the 10 battles.
Obi-Wan is in 3 of the 10 battles.
Yoda, Luke, Rey and Kylo are all in 2 of the 10 battles.

I’ll close with this EPIC battle, cause – to be honest – it was in my own Top 4 but didn’t make the list. But look at ALL those lightsabers!
